5 Hour Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Facilitator Training

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy 5-hour initial training is the training required for certification as a facilitator of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy groups.  The course defines cognitive-behavioral therapy as a form of psychotherapy, including how emotions are related to thoughts and behaviors. This course also discusses how CBT mostly focuses on looking for ways to improve mental wellbeing now.  Additionally, strategies for treatment and possible areas of resistance in therapy are discussed.  Common roadblocks to treatment along with tips for dealing with those roadblocks are also presented.

SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the seminar, participants will:

  • Have basic knowledge of cognitive-behavioral theory: history, overview, nature, definitions, types, and impact.
  • Have important knowledge regarding patients: impact on the mind, body, and relationships.
  • Understand and practice evidence-based treatment for Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
  • Understand and apply information on cultural implications including patterns, statistics, barriers, and bridges to treatment.
  • Understand and practice intake and assessment practices for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy including reviewing paperwork requirements, understanding intake procedures required by law and best practices, and assessment tools commonly used

In the unlikely event that AMC cancels this course, a full refund will be issued within 7 days of cancellation.

Author/Instructor: Michele Koonin, LCSW, MBA has worked in mental health for the last 40 years. She is the Director of CIFC and was one of the first certified treatment agencies for dealing with domestic violence perpetrators in San Diego. Michele is the author of curriculums for the treatment of male and female offenders of domestic violence, she created a program for treating teens who have been abusive in relationships. In addition, Michele has been/is involved in dealing with stalkers, elder abuse, and child abuse. Michele has presented her information at several conferences. Michele is committed to ending domestic violence and believes that early education of how to have and be in healthy relationships is one of the most important components of that ending.
