In addition, at the completion of the class, you will receive a packet of images to be used as images for the vision board.  These can be duplicated and used over and over.

Course Description:

CE Parental Alienation and Domestic Violence and Domestic Violence (6 CE credits )deals with developing awareness of the concept of parental alienation, how it manifests in relationships, and ways it impacts the parent-child relationship. This class shows the link between parental alienation and domestic violence, and the long/short-term impact that can occur in the parent-child relationship.  The emotional damage that children experience is discussed. The class also presents techniques for working with parents who are experiencing parental alienation,

  • What parental alienation means.
  • The motivation behind parental alienation.
  • The impact on the children who are being alienated.
  • The connection between parental alienation and domestic violence.
  • Therapeutic techniques to use when dealing with parental alienation.

SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the behaviors and dynamics of parental alienation.
  • Can Itemize three specific parental alienation behaviors.
  • Can itemize 4-6 responses/behaviors of a child who has been alienated from a parent.
  • Identify 3 characteristics of an alienating parent.
  • Understand the impact of parental alienation on a child’s ACE score.,
  • Itemize three long-term effects of parental alienation on the child(ren),
  • Identify 3 forms of domestic violence that parental alienation impacts.
  • Identify 4 therapeutic interventions to make when dealing with a parent who is being alienated from a child.

Author/Instructor: Michele Koonin, LCSW, MBA has worked in mental health for the last 40 years. She is the Director of CIFC and was one of the first certified treatment agencies for dealing with domestic violence perpetrators in San Diego. Michele is the author of curriculums for the treatment of male and female offenders of domestic violence, she created a program for treating teens who have been abusive in relationships. In addition, Michele has been/is involved in dealing with stalkers, elder abuse, and child abuse. Michele has presented her information at several conferences. Michele is committed to ending domestic violence and believes that early education of how to have and be in healthy relationships is one of the most important components of that ending.
